The Dos and Don’t of Angle Parking

It goes without saying that blocking any part of the road when you park is a quick way to get a parking ticket or worse: towed. But there are some cases where parking your vehicle at an angle is ok.

The overwhelming majority of parking spaces in New York City require that you park parallel to the curb. However, specially marked angled parking spots and signs do exist. When you are parking at an angle, your vehicle still cannot be blocking the flow of traffic, so you’re going to find a different spot for your limousine.

There is one vehicle type that can freely park at an angle to the curb almost everywhere. Two-wheeled vehicles, such as motorcycles, motor scooters, and mopeds are permitted to park at an angle as long as no part of the vehicle is more than 6 feet from the curb and at least one of the wheels is touching the curb.
